Marybeth Clark
Associate Artistic Director and Director of Education
Marybeth Clark is in her thirteenth season with Charleston Stage. Clark has a degree in theatre/performance from the University of South Florida. She worked as an actor in professional theatres throughout the Southeast for ten years before settling in Charleston in 1994 where she was a member of the theatre faculty at Charleston County's School of the Arts for middle and high school students. As an actor for Charleston Stage, Clark has appeared in Helium, Moon Over Buffalo, You Can't Take It With You, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, Steel Magnolias and A Christmas Carol. Each summer Clark directs Charleston Stage's SummerStage Musical Theatre Camp for more than 60 young people. Productions have included Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Seussical the Musical, Disney's Aladdin, Disney's High School Musical, Guys and Dolls Jr., and Bugsy Malone Junior. Clark has directed more than a dozen MainStage and Family Series shows for Charleston Stage, most recently, Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps, Blue and The Original Peter Pan. She currently oversees all Charleston Stage education programs, including the Professional Resident Acting Company, after school classes and outreach workshops.
Amanda Wansa
Director of Music Education

Amanda Wansa proudly serves as the Director of Music Education at Charleston Stage. Over the past two years, Amanda has music directed 8 fully staged musicals including Hairspray, Joseph..Dreamcoat and Cabaret. She has sound designed 20 productions for the company including this season's acclaimed Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps and has served as composer/arranger of original music for A Christmas Carol, Twelfth Night, and Peter Pan. She directed Bunnicula in 2010 and is a full-time faculty member and administrator to the Charleston Stage TheatreSchool, serving over 300 students, K-12, a year. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with her MFA in Acting and holds undergraduate degrees in Theatre and Music from Florida State University. Other Music Direction credits include Urinetown, The Most Happy Fella, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and countless cabarets and showcases. In 2009, Amanda composed music for the Orlando Shakespeare Theater's production of The Velveteen Rabbit, and arranged original music for UCF's award-winning production of The Piano Lesson. Whilst in Florida, Amanda acted on a professional stage for ten years at Seaside Music Theater, Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Theatre Southeast, and as the original Tina in the Orlando mounting of Tony and Tina's Wedding.  www.amandawansa.com

Additional Faculty

Classes are taught by Charleston Stage's Professsional Resident Acting Company. These young theatre professionals move to Charleston for 10 months after completing college theatre programs all over the country. In addition to teaching, they can be seen on stage throughout the season.
