Love at the Dock

Charleston Stage's Sizzling Summer Soiree begins at 6:30pm with cool summer cocktails in the newly renovated Historic Dock Street Theatre's grand foyer and upstairs drawing room. At 7:30pm, guest stars Carrie Preston, of HBO'S "TRUE BLOOD" and Michael Emerson, Emmy Award winning star of ABC's "LOST" will appear in a staged reading of A.R. Gurney's poignant and sizzling play LOVE LETTERS. A story of love, lust, and power that seems ripped right out of today's headlines, LOVE LETTERS tells the story of a lifelong romance between Andrew Ladd and Melissa Gardner beginning when they were in elementary school and continuing as Ladd becomes a powerful United States Senator. The Wall Street Journal called it "Exhilarating, funny, moving"; "Delightful, entertaining" raved USA Today when the Pulitzer nominated LOVE LETTERS sizzled on Broadway in 1989.

Following the performance of LOVE LETTERS, Charleston Stage Founder and Producing Artistic Director Julian Wiles will moderate a short question and answer period with the stars. Here's your chance to find out what really happened on "LOST" or perhaps what's up next on "TRUE BLOOD"!

Following the question and answer session, premium ticket holders will adjourn to the home of Mr. John Dewberry at 58 Meeting Street for a special gala after-party to meet the stars.
